The Dim White 13" MacBook Screen That Was Fine
We had just got in abot 50 white and black 13" MacBooks, and were going through them, testing them, and loading the MacOs on the working ones. One of them was in very good shape, but when it was tested the screen was real dim. It wasn't so dim that the backlight wasn't working at all, but we could barely see enough on the screen to load Lion.
I was really interested on finding out why this laptop's screen could be so dim, so I went ahead and installed Lion. The laptop loaded the operating system just fine, but when it booted up, it was still dim. I went through all the setup, and once it was done I went into system properties. As it turned out, the brightness was turned all the way down. When I adjusted the brightness slider, the screen worked fine.
It appears that when the laptop was last used, the brightness must have been turned way down. I am assuming pram must have saved this setting, and even with a new hard drive, and a new OS load, the MacBooks screen was still set to be dim. The MacBook works fine now. There wan't as screen problem after all.
